GAD- My Anxiety

My Anxiety Story

From the age of eight I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder. I would stress about the smallest things in junior school such as my handwriting, homework etc just these small issues I recognised would affect me and  would lead to an anxiety attack which felt like I was dying as you don't know what's happening at that age. My anxiety attacks can range from having shortness of breath, chest pains, feeling weak, nauseous the list goes on, it even gets as bad as fainting and violently vomiting to the point I can't stop and the attack feel as if I can no longer breathe.

With time I have been able to know the signs, such as sweaty palms, dry mouth and nausea. I still will never be able to control it fully. I have learnt through the years that most people with an anxiety disorder have triggers and I certainly know I have a few. And although I still live with it to this day and forever more, it is best for anyone to know the signs, and with knowing the signs have plans for when one is about to happen.

As I have got older I struggle to leave home due to my anxiety and the fear of other people (Which I can discuss in another post), I find when I do leave just to go to the shops, it is beneficial that I have a routine check and that I have a plan b just in case anything was to happen, i.e. alternative routes home, always having a snack to calm my nerves, carrying water, tissues and anything else that I may need for a given situation.

There is no cure for having anxiety and I wanted to be able to share this in order for those who are unaware or may be going through something similar to understand how I deal with my own anxiety.

You may be wondering or asking yourself.. Well why doesn't she just get anxiety tablets, the answer to this is I never want to be dependant on tablets for the rest of my life as I feel that it is unhealthy relying on a tablet to rescue you when your body and mind should be enough (even though it isn't most of the time). After suffering four years of depression and medication it is something I would prefer not to go back to depending on. I want to know that I am not dependent on any medication, plus I already take medication for life for other health issues and wouldn't want to be pill popping different medication every hour of the day.

My advice to those who may be going through this or think this is what they may have is to firstly talk to your doctor about your anxieties and worries and secondly figure out what might be some of the main triggers and how you can recover from the situations that may occur. For example a big trigger for me is trains, I already become anxious walking by myself, so being on a train alone and being claustrophobic is a trigger. Therefore I try to either travel with someone I know during peak times, or if I have free range of when to go, leave at a time that the trains will be least packed.

I am still trying to understand and control my anxiety but after having it for a long time, it has become easier to deal with. I still have attacks and bad days but doesn't everyone? I always try to stay positive and not make it such a negative thing.

Please feel free to talk to me regarding any questions, but this is just a post to let people know your not alone.

My New Vans

''She Was A Skater Girl''

I am never one to explore the sales and fight other buyers to find and hunt for something in the piles of mess in a store. I hardly even ever buy something online from the sales. But to my surprise, as I browsed the websites like a normal blogger does with spare time on their hands, I stumbled across the office sale and bought some beautiful printed Vans for half the price. Originally £59.00 down to £25.00 win!

I haven't had a pair of Vans since I was a teenager and now I officially own a pair again I feel oh so youthful. I have always been a skater girl at heart and love any form of skater trainers or hi tops. So when I came across the Vans Sk8-Hi Slim Zig Zag Print I was sold instantly not only because of the price but because of the style. I love the print and adore a thick sole for comfort. It was just fate that I was to stumble across the sale and now I have been reunited with these beauties.

Have you found anything from the January sales?

Superdrug Skincare Haul

Affordable Skincare Buys

I have always treated my skin with the tender loving care that it needs, and I don't know how much I preach to my friends and family to look after their skin as you cant just buy new skin. In regards to finding the right products to buy, never fear i am here. I am no expert no dermatologist but just a young woman experimenting like every other young lady to find what works best for their skin. But during my years of research experimenting and general goofing around some of the best products are either home made remedies or inexpensive products. Many of men and women fall for the adverts and merchandising and packaging of a product compared to the actual beneficiaries that the product holds. Just because a brand has a big name doesn't necessarily mean that it works, look past the glossy labels big bold and colourful packaging and airbrushed adverts and take time to indulge in things that actual work for you and only you.

I must admit I'm not a avid shopper but when I'm out I take time to read everything and like I said I have found the inexpensive products work just as well or even better at times. Don't just always assume high-end means good quality.
So indulge in my mini haul of Superdrug skincare face and body products that I picked up and have fallen in love with, as most people know not every product works for everyone, each to their own and always cater to your own skin type and your own bodies needs. My body generally falls into the normal skincare category so its a bit easier to try a variety of things, but my face falls into the combination oily category so I have to be ever so careful with what I buy.

I do love the tea tree range from superdrug and it has featured in plenty of hauls and had it's own post before also, usually I only pick up the tea tree face wash or face peel but I came across the Tea tree and pink grapefruit face wash and as I thought it is just as good as the original. It's not on the online site (so I linked the lemon version) but can be purchased at a local store for £1.99.  The Tea tree and grapefruit face wash unclogs pores and leaves my skin feeling fresh and smooth, I particularly love that it doesn't dry out my skin, I kinda expected it not to since I have been using the range of products since I was 14.

As you may already know if you have been reading my blog a while, I swear by baby products. Just because we are older and wiser doesn't mean we can't use baby products to enrich and moisturise our skin. I find that all baby products are the easiest thing to pick up as you know it is specially made to cater for young sensitive skin therefore it needs to nourish the skin fully and it doesn't contain any rubbish you will find with adult products. I picked this Johnson's soap up to give it a try, I don't really like using soap but its always handy to have in the cupboard and i find most of the other soaps on the market leave your skin dry but not this little gem. You get 4 baby soaps in a pack for an affordable price of £1.59! The Johnson's baby soap is infused with honey to leave you with baby-soft skin, and that is exactly what I have, baby soft skin ftw!

This product is so good I wrote a whole blog post solely dedicated to this beauty, Find it here

I do use other shower lotions and bath products but I always find myself putting the original source products back into my shopping basket. They all smell divine and leave your skin feeling thoroughly nourished and luxurious. Whether your having a quick 10min shower or a long soak in the bath, this product works well for all skin types. The shower gels can be found in your local Superdrug for an amazing price of 99p!

This is honestly the best underarm spray ever and now that I have found it, I wont be going back! It doesn't leave any white marks like other regular sprays do, and doesn't leave clumps under the arm if your armpit isn't fully dry form your bath or shower. The Vaseline double invisible is alcohol free and has specifically been made for those with sensitive skin. I just can't explain how much I swear by this product, it lasts way over 8 hours for sure. And for only 99p you cant go wrong, even if your just picking it up to try its not really going to dent your purse now is it.

Do you have any affordable products that you swear by?
